Howard Fensterman received his J.D. from Georgetown Law Center. He began his own law firm which, over the past 19 years, has expanded to include 85 attorneys, all across New York state. He is now the founder and managing partner of a firm consisting of seven other well-respected lawyers.
Health care attorney
One of his specialties is health care law, which, simply put, concerns who can receive health care and who is responsible for paying for it. It’s a complicated field given the cost of health care in the United States. Also, the laws concerning health care are constantly changing.
In addition to dealing with the legalities of the health care system, health care lawyers also assist families in planning for long-term elder care. Finally, health care lawyers work with both patients and medical providers to guarantee that the patient’s rights are respected.
Along with health care and malpractice law, he’s experienced dealing with professional misconduct and how it relates to complex health care cases. He’s also made it a point to keep his clients up-to-date on the ACA and how changes and challenges to it may affect their practices.
Because of his work in health care law, Mr. Fensterman was appointed by the governor to serve on New York State’s Public Health and Health Planning Council from 2008 to 2014, once his term ended. Before that, he had served on the Public Health & Planning Council’s Establishment & Project Review Committee.
Not only is Fensterman involved in health care law, but so are several of his associates. Hoping to make a difference, they’ve begun to garner support from social media outlets and have published many media publications.
Because of their success, Fensterman’s firm expanded and relocated back in September 2016.
Philanthropy
Along with being a well-respected attorney in Long Island, Howard Fensterman works as a managing partner in a major New York law firm. Mr. Fensterman is a philanthropist and humanitarian who not only contributes to, but helps to work for, organizations focused on bettering people’s lives. His background in health care law makes me particularly interested in contributing to “charities that are focused on medical research and treatment, as well as finding cures for debilitating diseases.”
Mr. Fensterman is an avid believer in the concept of spontaneous acts of goodwill, also known as “tzedakah.” As such, he believes in giving back to the community, including local charities, to improve the lives of those in the community. The first of the two charitable organizations to which Fensterman has donated large sums of money are the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America’s Long, which serves more than 30,000 individuals suffering from those diseases by offering outreach programs and education to those affected by Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis. Along with his financial contributions, he’s also a member of their Board of Trustees. Because the foundation lacks government funding, Fensterman has stepped up, offering large grants to help fund research and outreach programs. Because of his generous donations, he was named “Man of the Year” in 2011 by the CCFA’s Board of Trustees.
The second charity in which Fensterman is highly involved and has donated a great deal is the Chabad of Port Washington. It’s a Jewish organization that’s based in New York, which offers benefits and important services for the community, regardless of their faith, such as day care, after-school events, youth sports, adult education, and crisis counseling.
In addition to listing his philanthropy work, Fensterman’s website provides information on a mental illness, diseases, elder care, and medical technology, to reach as many people as possible.
